In English, it is common to use more than one adjective before a noun. You cannot write them in any order, but you have to put them in the proper order, according to type.
Below you can see correct order of adjectives.
- Opinion (polite, fun, cute, difficult, ...);
- Size (tall, huge, long, narrow, ...);
- Shape (round, oval, triangular, square, irregular, ...);
- Age (new, young, adolescent, teenage, middle-aged, old, ...);
- Colour (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, ...);
- Nationality (English, American, Japanese, ...);
- Material (wood, plastic, metal, ceramic, ...);
- Purpose (running, racing, ...).
Examples:
- An ugly big brown wooden office desk.
- A historic oval black and white family photograph.
- A strong young American baseball player.
- Some tiny round yellow flowers.
